A gentle, living approach to beginning French.

Elementary French: The Living Way introduces children to French through stories, songs, poetry, art, and conversation.

Rather than memorizing vocabulary lists, children learn words in sentences and in context. Language is introduced, used right away, and revisited through meaningful repetition.

Each unit is designed for 3 weeks, with an optional fourth week for review. Each week, new language is layered onto what children already know, so the language stays in use rather than being quickly replaced by something new. There are 9 units per year, with a three-year elementary sequence.

Our first unit begins with the French nursery song Une souris verte. Children learn to talk about being hungry and ask for different foods while building a growing series of sentences. They also explore paintings by Paul Cézanne and learn simple French for describing what they see.

French that children hear, understand, use, and enjoy.

Already enrolled in my live elementary class?

You probably don't need this course. The self-paced program follows essentially the same content as the live class. It may be useful if you would like additional review and repetition at home.
